Project Responsibilities: Concept Design, Construction Documents
Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church decided to commemorate its 150th anniversary with a new bell tower. The tower houses the bell that was salvaged from the previous church (the congregation built a sanctuary in 1998 and an addition in 2004). The bell was added to the previous church in 1866.
The new bell tower incorporates brick and stucco elements and detailing copied from the adjacent main church structure. The tower features a high-tech stationary ringer with a digital controller to replace the traditional swinging bell operation. The controller can be programmed with a variety of ringer functions to suit the appropriate occasion, such as funerals, weddings or Christmas.
The courtyard around the bell was extensively landscaped to accent the tower, but also screen the existing mechanical equipment yard.
