A renovation of a rural farmhouse created a new retail store for Esther Price Candies Corp. The farmhouse, located on U.S. 40 in Clayton, Ohio, was completely gutted to accommodate the commercial retail store. A large addition to the rear of the home was built with a loading dock, receiving area and large walk-in cooler. The design includes a large retail sales floor, checkout area, private office, break room, and employee restroom. Interior finishes were selected to reflect a home atmosphere. A new entry vestibule was also part of the design. The floor system was reinforced to accommodate commercial use. A new mechanical system and upgraded electrical system was installed. The building was made wheelchair accessible throughout. Exterior improvements included extensive grading, a concrete parking lot, a wheelchair ramp and landscaping.
