Client: City of Springboro
Springboro, Ohio
Project Responsibilities: Concept Design, Construction Documents, Interior Design, Construction Observation
Scheduled for construction in early 2015, SPARC is an acronym for Springboro Area Recharging Center.
This project is part of the City’s bike and pedestrian plan, the second such facility in Springboro, and is located along SR 741 north of the City center. The facility acts as a rest station for pedestrians and bicyclists, where the public has access to restrooms, vending machines, a drinking fountain, picnic tables, and bicycle repair stations. The facility also has a reservable public meeting room that can accommodate up to 49 occupants, containing a kitchenette and separate indoor restrooms.
A natural gas powered generator also allows the facility to act as a public recharging center during power outages and natural disasters. The site is extensively landscaped and contains 25 parking spaces.
The second phase of the project is to incorporate a series of paved walking trails and two pedestrian bridges that access a park area on the east side of the creek that runs through the property. The entire facility and site is wheelchair accessible. |
